Your First Visit

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Your first class should feel exciting, not intimidating. We'll guide you every step of the way so you can simply arrive, move, and enjoy the experience.

When should I arrive?

Arrive about 10 minutes before class.

There's plenty of convenient street parking along Main Street as well as LaSalle and Clinton.

Check in through Mindbody when you arrive, then stop by the front desk. If your instructor is finishing a previous class, they'll greet you as soon as they're available.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows you to move freely.

Grip socks are recommended, and if you don't have a pair, they're available for purchase at the studio.

Shoes stay in the cubbies while you enjoy class.

What should I bring?

Bring your favorite water bottle and come ready to move.

Hydration is encouraged, and fresh towels are provided, although you're always welcome to bring your own.

Which class should I start with?

If you've never used a reformer before, we recommend beginning with Foundations.

Mat Pilates classes are also a wonderful place to start.

Every class welcomes beginners, and your instructor will guide you throughout each movement.

What should I expect?

Every class is 50 minutes.

Reformer classes are intentionally limited to eight members, allowing for personalized instruction. Mat classes accommodate up to twelve participants.

Expect thoughtful coaching, movement modifications when needed, and encouragement throughout class.

It's normal to feel a little sore afterward — but it's the kind of soreness that reminds you your body is getting stronger.

Will I fit in?

Absolutely.

At Shaped Society, you'll never feel like an outsider. Our goal is for every member to feel welcomed, supported, and part of our community from the moment they walk through the door.

If you're feeling nervous, don't worry — our instructors will guide you through every movement and answer any questions along the way.
